I moved this blog from my old blog on myspace. It’s old, but I wanted to keep it here too…it’s sad to think that this time last year, I was there. I miss Paris.
paris. where do I begin? It was amazing and I never wanted to leave. I made friends with people from school that I didn’t know that well before, ate more bread than I’ve eaten in 2 years and walked 100 miles…There is so much that I saw and did that I can’t even begin to tell or write it all down in a blog…I wrote it all in my sketchbook as a journal entry, but there is no way I am going to write it all again…
here are a few things I did: ate baguettes, almond pastries and crepes everyday. cafe creme was my lifeline. took the metro everywhere (including some scary places). madeleine. plaza la concorde. champs elysees. eiffel tower (to the top). tuileries. musee du louvre for 3 days. saw the mona lisa and the venus de milo, rembrandt, david, michaelangelo…went to Place St. Michel and the Latin Quarter. Le Marais and Hotel DeVille. Musee Cluny. St. Chapelle Cathedral. waited around to see the riots but nothing happened. buddha bar (amazing). St. Germain en-Lay. Chateau a la Malmaison. Musee Picasso. Notre Dame. Pompidou Center: Big Bang show, Los Angeles Art show and Hans Bellmer show (my new favorite fine artist). Lotus Cafe for happy hour. Versailles Rive Gauche and gardens. Musee d’Orsay: saw Olympia, the Luncheon on the Grass and Courbet’s “beaver shot” & Degas, Rodin, Van Gogh, LaTour, Gaughin. Musee du Mode for the “Showtime” exhibit (history of the runway show). Modern Art Museum. Palais de Tokyo for some young contemporary french art. Colette (store that blends fashion music art and food) – good call Heather. asian tourists were extremely interested in looking at my sketches when I was drawing in the museums and italian students videotaped me as I drew the nude from luncheon on the grass in the Musee d’Orsay.
it was a lot to take in…so here are some sketches and some photos to give you more of an idea of my experience…
